Iíve painted in a lot of places in North America. The area around Point Reyes and Tomales I like as much as anywhere. It has really strong shapes and great variety. If you havenít seen it I know you will love the area for landscape painting. Itís about an hour north of San Francisco.
We will paint in four-hour sessions, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, for all five days. The emphasis will be on, as always on my workshops, structuring a foundation of good design before you start to paint.
Mark Twain once said, as I'm sure you've heard, "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." I can vouch for this, having started a painting in warm sunlight and watched as a fog bank came rolling in and could feel the temperature drop 30 degrees. So you need layers - a good down layer and a water-proof, wind resistant jacket. We may have sunny, warm weather the whole time. But you do need to be prepared.
There are lots of hotels, inns and B&Bs in the area. I would recommend staying in Inverness or Point Reyes.
